MEGALIGHT

Fiber-Optics Underwater Lights

 

Designed and manufactured in Italy by Altraluce International, the MEGALIGHT uses fiber-optics technology to guide the light from the illuminator, which is installed in a safe and protected location, to the desired light spots. The system can be customized to fit specific needs and is extremely flexible.

A Lloyd Register certified model is also available.

This reliability of the system has been widely tested on over 800 units installed aboard the most luxurious yachts in Europe and the USA.

 


Each unit includes three components:

  1. Bullet Illuminator (light source) + power supply

  2. Bullet Fiber-optics cable(s)

  3. Bullet Thru-hull fittings


The installation is similar to other through-hull fitting and can be performed by any qualified shipyard. Absolut Marine will provide complete technical assistance, including pre and post-sales support.

Being installed in a secure and protected location, the light source is subjected to fewer vibrations, thermal shocks and other physical stresses. guaranteeing a much higher reliability than traditional systems.

The other elements of the system (fiber-optic cable and trough-hull fitting) are completely passive and therefore virtually failure free.


In case of a malfunction, the light can be easily replaced, simply and inexpensively, while the boat is still in the water and even during navigation.


Available in three models: 1, 2 or 3 light sources, all powered with a single illuminator box:

  1. Bullet Single 150W metallic iodide OSRAM Powerstar HQI-R/150W/NDL/FO lamp. Working life of 6,000 hrs

  2. Bullet Power source: 110Vac/60Hz (or 230Vac/50Hz)

  3. Bullet 11,000 lumen

  1. Bullet single solid core optical guide, 3/4” (19 mm)

  2. Bullet single FRP thru-hull fittings, (hole diameter 2”) with safety valve and cap

  3. Bullet also available with Lloyd’s approved stainless steel thru-hull fitting, flanged (diam. 2 1/2”) or weldable ( diam. 2 3/4”)

  4. Bullet 14,000 lux per light point at 0.5m,  3,400 lux at 1m

  5. Bullet Light emission angle (in water): 38°


MEGALIGHT standard (2 x 4,800 lux)

  1. Bullet 2 solid core optical guides, 1/2” (13 mm)

  2. Bullet 2 FRP thru-hull fittings, (hole diameter 2”) with safety valve and cap

  3. Bullet also available with Lloyd’s approved stainless steel thru-hull fitting, flanged (diam. 2 1/2”) or weldable ( diam. 2 3/4”)

  4. Bullet 4,800 lux per light point at 0,5m,  2 x 1,100 lux at 1m

  5. Bullet Light emission angle (in water): 38°


MEGALIGHT plus (3 x 3,600 lux)

  1. Bullet 3 solid core optical guides, 1/2” (13 mm)

  2. Bullet 3 FRP thru-hull fittings, (hole diameter 2”) with safety valve and cap

  3. Bullet also available with Lloyd’s approved stainless steel thru-hull fitting, flanged (diam. 2 1/2”) or weldable ( diam. 2 3/4”)

  4. Bullet 3,600 lux per light point at 0.5m,  3 x 1,000 lux at 1m
